(BGO)- At the awarding ceremony in the Temple of Literature Quoc Tu Giam (Hanoi) in November 2022, there were 2 excellent students from Bac Giang honoured among 98 valedictorians who graduated from universities with outstanding results.
Winning fully funded master scholarships in China
Thanks to her ceaseless efforts, the student Duong Thi Hong Nhung (born in 2000) in Noi Hoang commune, Yen Dung district became a double-degree valedictorian in August 2022 at Hanoi University of Industry, major of Chinese and Guangxi University of Science and Technology in China. Previously, Nhung studied under the international joint training programme when she studied in Vietnam in the first 2 years and the last 2 years in China.

Nhung started studying Chinese since she was at grade 11 as she fancied TFBOYS (a Chinese teen band); however, this student had made real efforts and paid high attention to this subject after she entered university. With her passion and great efforts, Nhung passed the exam into the faculty of Chinese, Hanoi University of Industry in 2018.
Despite her busy schedule, this student spent time learning vocabulary everyday. After her vocabulary had been better, Nhung used some apps to make friends and talk to Chinese persons who were studying Vietnamese. It’s the online friends that helped Nhung correct her pronunciation.
Thanks to her ceaseless efforts, this girl gained HSK5 certificate (an international standardized test of Chinese proficiency at level 5) when she was a second-year student. Her university only required HSK5 certificate for graduation but Nhung got HSK6. Then, Nhung took an exam for advanced HSK certificate, which was one of the important criteria for her to apply for a scholarship by Chinese government.
In addition, Nhung won second prize at a writing contest about trade relations among member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) organised by Guangxi Daily in 2021 and consolation prize at the “International Chinese teaching competition” held by Guangxi province, China.
With her outstanding achievement, in September 2022, Nhung won “double” full master scholarships of Huadong-Shanghai University and Beijing University of Teacher Education in China.
Nhung chose to study at Beijing University of Teacher Education where she is fully funded with tuition fee, accomodation, insurance and 3,000 Chinese yuan (442 USD) per month of living costs. In 2022, Chinese Government awarded 50 full scholarships to Vietnamese students to study doctorate, master and university degrees.
“My hometown in Noi Hoang commune is strongly developing industrial sector where is home to many Chinese enterprises. I want to study Chinese well to work in my hometown”, said Nhung.
A valedictorian promoted ahead schedule
With his passion for reconnaissance service, Nguyen Duc Thinh in residential group 1B, Tran Nguyen Han ward, Bac Giang city was the only student of the People’s Police Academy graduating at excellent rank with the average point of 3.66/4 and became the valedictorian of course D44 (2018-2022), especially he was promoted to lieutenant ahead schedule.

Thinh was born in a family of an army officer and teacher, thus Thinh has been educated to be well-ordered, disciplined and hardworking. He had been titled excellent student during 12 years at school. He also became a valedictorian at the high school graduation exam and was awarded Hoang Hoa Tham prize for the outstanding faces by the provincial Youth Union in 2018.
Thinh used to be a student of English class at Bac Giang High School for Gifted Students. He passed the entrance exam into the high-quality class B11, major of crime investigation on social order (People’s Police Academy) with 27.3 points.
With his intelligence, sharp thinking and logical judgement, Thinh has great passion on the subjects of investigation major. In order to have further understanding about specialized subjects, Thinh has proactively taken part in scienctific research and he won 2 first prizes at the student scientific research contest organised by the Academy in the academic year 2021-2022 with the thesis “Preventing spread of Covid-19 related fake news on social networks” and the scientific writing contest with the theme “Enhancing efficiency of learning and following the Ho Chi Minh’s ideology on physical health training of the students at People’s Police Academy”. Besides, he bagged second prize at the Academy’s Criminal Law Olympic Competition in the academic year 2020-2021. These were solid foundation for Thinh to complete his graduation thesis with high result (9.9/10 points).
In addition, Thinh is known as a talented boy. He used to be leader of a folk dance club, key member of an English club and member of the internal bulletin and radio broadcast of the People’s Police Academy.
With his outstanding achievements in study and youth union’s work, Nguyen Duc Thinh was honoured the “Academy’s outstanding face” in the academic year 2019-2020, “student of 5 good” in the academic year 2020-2021. He was also awarded certificate of merit by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and the Youth Union of the Ministry of Public Security for his outstanding achievements in youth union’s work and youth movements in the academic year 2021-2022.
Thinh started working at the Investigation police team on social order (the Public Security of Bac Giang city) since October 2022.
“The gained achievements are just the first steps for me to begin my career. Crime combating and protecting a peaceful life for the people is the important duty that I must keep trying my best”, said Nguyen Duc Thinh.
