(BGO)- The Organizing Committee of the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) hosted by Mongolia announced and gave awards to outstanding contestants on May 28. Than The Cong, an eleventh grader at Physics Class in Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, is among 4 Vietnamese competitors winning bronze medals at this event.
According to teacher Tran Duy Phuong, Head of Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, the APhO this year attracted 195 contestants from 27 countries and territories. The Vietnamese team comprised of 8 contestants, 4 of whom won bronze medals and the other 4 students were given Honourable Mention certificates.

Than The Cong is an excellent student of Bac Giang High School for the Gifted with many achievements such as first prize at the national contest for excellent students in the academic year of 2022-2023, in top 4 contestants with highest scores and gold medal at the contest for excellent students from high school for gifted students in Coastal and Northern Delta Region in 2022.
APhO is a competition for below 20 high school students in the countries of Asia-Pacific Region. Each country and territory sends 8 participants to the competition where they sit both theory and practical exams.

This is the 4th time Bac Giang High School for the Gifted sending students to the APhO and bagging medals for the 3rd time. Previously, Nguyen Xuan Hung was awarded certificate of merit in 2009, Trinh Duy Hieu won a gold medal in 2018 and a silver medal in 2019.
