More than 10,000 people joined the Fun Run for Charity, 18th edition held by British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV), in District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City on September 30.

Runners and walkers divided into three categories for men, women and teenagers completed a 5 kilometre race. This year’s event raised over 1 billion VND (43,000 USD) for charitable activities.

According to the organising board, over the past 17 years, the BBGV has raised about 10 VND for charitable activities in Vietnam. The events attracted more than 100,000 people.
In 2017, the Fund Run for Charity in HCM City drew 10,000 participants, raising nearly 1 billion VND.
With funding, the programme provided the Saigon Children charitable organization with 12 scholarships worth 100 million VND to help needy students.
It also provided scholarships worth over 170 million VND for 112 female students in the difficult background in southern Hau Giang province, while assisting 270 million VND to build a kindergarten in Da Bop village in northern Dien Bien province, and cooperating with
