Vietnam bags first golds at ASEAN University Games

Vietnamese athletes won two gold medals at the ongoing 19th ASEAN University Games in Myanmar. All the titles were in track-and-field events held on December 13.

Runner Pham Thi Hue won the women’s 10,000m in a time of 39min 15.20sec, leaving her nearest rival Yin Nyein Aye of the hosts far behind.

Hue finishes with a time of 39min 15.2 sec.

Her teammate Bui Van Dong succeeded in the men’s long jump event with a result of 7.80m. His runner-up Luqman Hakim of Malaysia jumped 18cm less than Dong.

Athletes will continue competing in the women’s 400m in athletics and other events like golf, table tennis, karate andvovinam.

The ASEAN University Games started on December 10 and will end on December 19.

Bac Giang’s athlete breaks third record at national sports festival
(BGO) – After grasping 2 golds at women’s 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter race, Bac Giang born athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh completed all competition events at the National Sports Festival 2018 in the morning of December 1 with her forte of 3,000 - meter steeplechase.

(BGO) – The 2018 Victory Cup Awards, a prestigious annual award honouring the best individuals and collectives of Vietnamese sports has opened for voting to 10 categories of Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, Young Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, Teammate of the Year, Most Favourite Athlete of the Year, Best Athlete With Disability of the Year, Photo of the Year  and Lifetime Achievement.
 
Bac Giang focuses on training next generation of athletes
(BGO) - After the National Sports Games in 2018, Bac Giang sports sector is expected to have more than 50 percent of its veteran athletes who will not continue to play. In preparation for their goodbye, the high-performance sports have focused on the detection and training of young athletes.
