Nguyen Thi Dao 4 times crown champion in world shuttlecock kicking

(BGO)- Belonging to the golden generation of shuttlecock kicking, Nguyen Thi Dao (born in 1991) is a coach for the gifted and an athlete of Bac Giang’s shuttlecock kicking team. During her career of competition, she attended 4 international championships and won 5 gold medals in this high performance arena.

She just started playing shuttlecock kicking when she was 14 but the girl from Minh Duc commune, Viet Yen district has shown her talent and developed her profession. With her advantages of good height, endurance and physical strength, Dao was arranged to play in categories of women’s doubles and women’s team at defensive positions.

Nguyen Thi Dao shares her delight of wining gold medal with leader of Vietnam Shuttlecock team at the championship.

Over the past 10 years, she has become a specialist at the defensive position assuring her teammates in attacking. Her perfect skills discouraged her opponents in many matches.

Thereby, Dao and her women’s team has won glorious victories in national competitions such as gold medals in women’s doubles category at the competitions for youth and then a number of gold medals at the championships in women’s doubles and women’s team events especially gold medal at the National Sports Festival in 2010.

Dao was summoned to the national team for the first time in 2013 to attend the world shuttlecock kicking championship organized in Vietnam. Together with Hoang Thi Tra My (from Bac Giang) and Nguyen Thi Bich Cham (from Dong Thap), she had an impressive performance with good movements and effective defense contributing to winning a gold medal for Vietnamese women’s team.

After her perfect performance that time, Dao became a significant member of the national team. She had took part in the world championship for 3 times winning 2 gold medals in 2015 in Italy in women’s doubles and women’s team events, 1 gold medal in 2017 in Hong Kong (China) in women’s team and 1 silver in women’s doubles, 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal in 2019 in France.

In the regional playground, Nguyen Thi Dao took part in 2016 Asian Beach Games in Da Nang city. In spite of fierce competition among the opponents, her team was crown champion in women’s doubles and women’s team events.

In the context of generation changing in shuttlecock kicking, Nguyen Thi Dao is an important factor to link and train the succeeding generations. Her talent and experience will help shuttlecock kicking of the province secure its position in the national arena

In line with her talent, Dao shows her dedication and sense of responsibility for her career. Specially, she is able to overcome difficulties especially injuries to grow up.

“When I enter any competition, I always try my best for the national colours to bring glory to Vietnam’s sport and Bac Giang province’s as well”, said Dao.

With the great passion, she went to Bac Ninh University of Sport when she was an athlete (she graduated in 2015) to have more opportunity to accompany the province’s sport. In early 2019, she was given opportunity by the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism to become a coach for the gifted in shuttlecock kicking and an athlete of the provincial team.

Although she has got married and she spends much time for coaching, Dao still pays attention to practising to remain her physical strength and skills. Thus, she was a key contributor to the gold medal in women’s team event at the 2019 National Shuttlecock Kicking especially 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal at the 2019 World Shuttlecock Kicking in France as mentioned above.
