Charity Fun Run draws nearly 8,000 runners

The fifth edition of the Charity Fun Run took place in the northern province of Hung Yen on November 3 with the participation of nearly 8,000 runners.

The annual event was held by the British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV) with the aim of encouraging the fair-play spirit in sports and strengthening bonds between participants, in addition to raising funds for charity projects in Vietnam in numerous fields such as education, health care, and natural disaster prevention.

Nearly 8,000 people take part in the Charity Fun Run in Hung Yen province on November 3.

Besides joining the five-kilometre race, participants were also able to take part in other sideline activities such as music performances and flash-mobs.

Vice Chairman of the BBGV Christopher Jeffery hoped this year’s event will raise 1 billion VND (43,156 USD), which will be distributed according to the group’s charity policies.

Last year, the event attracted 6,000 runners and raised 650 million VND (over 28,000 USD) to help the needy in Vietnam.

Charity programme raises US$40.8 million to support the poor
Roughly VND945 billion (US$40.8 million) was raised for the charity programme “Joining hands for the poor" in 2018 by 261 kind-hearted businesses, units and individuals nationwide.
 
Voluntary charity associations, groups spread love
(BGO) - Regardless of background, age and occupation; and operating voluntarily, in recent years, charity associations, groups and clubs in Bac Giang province have appeared more and more, thus spreading love in the community.
 
Boosting up charity work
(BGO) – The Vietnam Red Cross Society has launched the Humanitarian Month in 2019 themed “Connecting, sharing and spreading” across the nation. In response, all levels of the Red Cross Society (RCS) in the northern province of Bac Giang has implemented many activities to boost up the charity campaign and support the needy people.

The Women’s Association of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan attended the 43rd charity fair of the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) in Tokyo, Japan, on April 10.
