Leader of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism congratulates athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh

(BGO) – In the evening of December 11, Director of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DoCST) Tran Minh Ha and leader of the Center for Sports Training and Competition in the northern province of Bac Giang arrived at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) to welcome and congratulate track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh who returned from the Philippines after participating in the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). 

The delegates presented the flowers to congratulate Nguyen Thi Oanh and praised her great efforts as well as the excellent achievements gained at the regional sports event.

At the 30th SEA Games, the athlete born in Lang Giang district won 3 golds at the distances of 1500 meters, 5000 meters and 3000 meter steeplechase. Especially, Oanh made a surprise when hitting the finish line of 3000 meter steeplechase category after 10 minutes 2 milliseconds to break SEA Games record and bring the glory to Vietnam sports in general and Bac Giang sports in particular.

Oanh said during the 30th SEA Games, she always receives the due attention, encouragement and warm cheering from hometown which created strong motivation for her to stably compete and win highest achievement at the event.

Vietnam at the 30th SEA Games
Vietnam returned home with 98 gold, 85 silver and 105 bronze medals from the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines, settling for second place overall 51 golds behind the Philippines and six clear of third-placed Thailand. With the result, the Vietnam sports delegation completed the target set ahead of their SEA Games departure, which was to claim 65-70 gold medals and secure a top-three place in the overall medal table.
 
SEA Games 30 marks fine success for Vietnam
After more than 10 days of competition, the Vietnamese delegation wrapped up the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 30) in the Philippines with 98 gold medals and the second position, surpassing by far the initial targets of from 65-70 gold medals and the third position.

(BGO) – At 16h30 (Vietnam time) on December 10, track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh (Bac Giang province) excellently won the gold medal at 3000 meter steeplechase event with an achievement of 10 minutes two milliseconds at the ongoing 30th SEA Games.

The gold medal in the men’s football concluded a successful day for Vietnam at the 30th SEA Games on December 10 with 17 gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals.
