Bonuses awarded to Vietnam’s women’s football team over SEA Games triumph

A meeting was held at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in Hanoi on December 16 to present bonuses from units and individuals to the Vietnam women’s national football team following their triumph at the recent 30th SEA Games in the Philippines.

Under the coaching of Mai Duc Chung, the Vietnamese squad successfully defended their gold medal at the region’s largest sporting event, maintaining an unbeaten run and conceding just one goal throughout their four matches.

It was also the sixth time in history that Vietnam were crowned champions in women’s football at the SEA Games arena.

Speaking at the event, VFF Vice President Cao Van Chong extended his thanks to individuals and units for their companionship and care for the women’s national team throughout the 2019 SEA Games campaign.

Head coach Mai Duc Chung said the team would always remember the care and support from the Government, the VFF, sponsors and fans, affirming that he and his players would continue improving themselves towards further goals, including the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

On behalf of the players, midfielder Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung extended her gratitude for the companionship of individuals and organisations, asserting the team’s strong determination to bring home additional glories, contributing to the development of Vietnamese football.

At the meeting, bonuses worth approximately VND22 billion (roughly US$950,000) were awarded to the Vietnam women’s team.

From February 3 to 9, 2020, Mai Duc Chung and his players will attend the last round of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifiers, in which Vietnam have been drawn against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea and Myanmar in Group A.
