On July 8, 2007, in the tournament opener against the UAE, Vinh received a through ball and delicately scored with a one-touch finish beyond the keeper’s reach to secure a 2-0 victory for the Golden Dragons.

Geynrikh’s goal in the third-place play-off between Uzbekistan and South Korea in Asian Cup 2011 was a great effort as the former striker received a long ball, dribbled past a defender to easily beat the goalkeeper with a simple finish. South Korea won the game 3-2.

In the semifinals, Vinh will go up against former Indonesian star Widodo Putra. Voting for this match-up will run until September 16.

Asian Cup Greatest Goals Bracket Challenge is an online event organized by Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as a build-up to 2023 Asian Cup in China.

It chose 32 iconic goals from Asian Cup history to determine the greatest goal ever via fan voting.

Vinh was a Vietnamese and Southeast Asian legend. He won 2008 AFF Cup with Vietnam and reached the 2007 Asian Cup quarterfinals with the Golden Dragons.

With 51 goals from 83 games, he is the top Vietnamese scorer of all time. Vinh is also 40th on the list of top international football goal scorers by country, along with French legend Thierry Henry, and Turkish star Hakan Şükür.
