Vietnamese telecommunications firm FPT has obtained the broadcasting rights for all tournaments under Asian Football Confederation (AFC) from 2021 to 2024 for an undisclosed fee.

The most highly anticipated tournaments include the last World Cup 2020 qualification round, AFC U23 Championship 2022, and Asian Cup 2023. AFC Futsal Championship and AFC Solidarity Cup will also be part of the deal. Women’s competitions are Women’s Asian Cup 2022, Women’s Olympic Football Tournament, AFC U20, and U17 Women’s Championship in 2022. Youth tournaments are AFC U16 and U19 Championships in 2021. AFC Champions League, AFC Cup, and AFC Futsal Club Championship round up the club events.

Tournaments will be broadcast on all FPT Television channels.

An FPT Telecom representative said FPT TV is willing to negotiate and share the screening rights with other broadcasters in Vietnam.

FPT will also produce sideline contents with commentary and reviews from experts and guests, and keep producing a series of events on other platforms (social media, fanpage) to feature the latest tournament updates.

Earlier this year, Vietnamese media firm Next Media bought the screening rights for 2020 AFF Cup (postponed to 2021) from Lagardere Sports Asia, reserving redistributing rights to broadcast in four countries Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. The deal is said to be worth no less than $5 million.
