Bac Giang ranks second overall position at National Badminton Championships for middle age and older people

(BGO) – On November 29, Bac Giang sport delegation successfully competed at National Badminton Championships 2021 for the Middle Age and Older People recently co-hosted by Vietnam Association for the Elderly, Vietnam Sports Administration and Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Lai Chau province with second overall ranking.  

The event drew nearly 160 players of 12 delegations from provinces and cities nationwide. 28 athletes from Bac Giang team competed at 12 out of 17 contents and won four gold, three silver and three bronze medals, helping the province rank second overall position. Lai Chau sport delegation rank first while delegation from Dien Bien province secured third place.

The Organization Board awards first, second and third overall prizes to excellent sport delegations.

The gold medals were awarded to Le Xuan Phu – Do Xuan Hoan (men’s doubles at age group of 56 - 60), Pham Thi Thu Hang – Nguyen Duc Ha (mixed doubles at age group 46 - 50), Tran Thi Thu – Tran Thi Thuy (women’s doubles at age group 56 - 60) and Truong Quang Thien – Le Thi Thuy Nga (mixed doubles at age group 51 - 55).

Due to complicated development of Covid-19 across the nation, the Organization Board held all competitions at the evenings and concluded the tourney earlier than initial plan from November 26 till December 2.

The annual event aims to improve the physical strength and enhance exchange among the middle aged and old players in the country.
