Bac Giang city ensures food hygiene safety conditions for 31st SEA Games

(BGO) – To prepare conditions serving the competition of badminton event at the 31st Southeastern Asian Games (SEA Games) in Bac Giang city (Bac Giang province), the municipal Medical Center has cooperated to implement various measures to ensure the  food hygiene safety conditions.

Bac Giang city now has more than 100 restaurants, hotels and dining facilities which are licensed and managed by the municipal authority together with hundreds of restaurants and street food vendors under the control of wards and communes.

The staff at Bac Giang city Medical Center prepare tools and bio-products to inspect the food hygiene and safety to serve the 31st SEA Games.

So, it is crucial to ensure the food hygiene safety conditions, especially when the province expects to welcome numerous spectators in and outside Bac Giang to cheer the badminton matches.

Implementing the authority’s direction, the municipal Medical Center has cooperated with relevant agencies to reinforce inspection on food hygiene, accelerate communication and raise awareness for the owners of dining facilities on this issue.

Intersectoral inspection team is established to check the implementation of regulation on food hygiene safety conditions at these facilities; take specimen to test the quality criteria of the products (bottle water, fast food, processed food, street food…).

Director of the municipal Medical Center Nguyen Thi Thanh Hong said apart from inspecting the business facilities, the Center directs assigned competent forces to reinforce the supervision to early detect any risk of food poisoning case or disease transmitted via food; prepare man power, vehicle, materials and supplies, medicines to timely recover and minimize the impact of food poisoning issue if any.

Muong Thanh hotel in Bac Giang city is the place to receive sport delegations to compete at badminton event of the 31st SEA Games.

The municipal Medical Center arranges staff on duty 24 hours per day with sufficient condition to respond to disease and food poisoning circumstances.

As schedule, the opening ceremony of 31st SEA Games will take place in the evening of May 12, 2022 at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi city. Badminton event lasts from May 16 – 22, 2022 at Bac Giang provincial Sports Competition Hall in the Southern urban area of Bac Giang city, Bac Giang province.

The badminton event is expected to welcome 127 athletes from eight participating countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam. The delegations will stay at Muong Thanh hotl in Bac Giang city.

It has been decided that the 31st SEA Games, hosted by Vietnam, will be held from May 12-23, 2022, having been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
