Bac Giang wins five medals at National Chess Championships 2022

(BGO) –The National Chess Championship 2022 wrapped up on August 30 after 10 competition day from August 21 – 30. Bac Giang sport delegation won five medals.

The event was co-hosted by Vietnam Chess Federation and Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Can Tho with the participation from 240 players of 21 provinces, cities and sectors across the nation.

Organization Board awards gold medal to Bac Giang’s player Vo Thi Kim Phung (Podium No.1) at rapid chess.

The athletes vied for 12 sets of medal at various categproes of standard, rapid, blitz, bullet, Khmer and ASEAN chess for male and female.

14 members of Bac Giang province joined the championship to encounter strong rivals from Hanoi, HCM city and Can Tho. With high determination and belief, they excellently won 5 medal (two golds, 2 silvers and one bronze).

Particularly, the gold winners were Nguyen Quang Trung (ASEAN chess), Vo Thi Kim Phung (rapid chess); the silvers were awarded to Nguyen Thi Mai Hung (rapid) and Luong Hoang Tu Linh (blitz) while the bronze medallist was Doan Thi Van Anh (rapid).

Nguyen Quang Trung (Podium No.1 is awarded trophy and gold medal at Asean chess.

The championship aimed to select players for the national chess team to compete at international tourneys next year.

Two Bac Giang players Vo Thi Kim Phung and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung will join Asian Chess Championship to be held in this October in India.
