Bac Giang wins two medals at National Team Traditional Chess Championship

(BGO) – The 2022 National Team Traditional Chess Championships wrapped up on September 14 after 10 competition days. Bac Giang players won two medals (one silver and one bronze).

The event was co-hosted by Vietnam Traditional Chess Federation, Vietnam Sports Administration and Department of Culture and Sports in Binh Dinh province, drawing more than 200 players from 21 provinces, cities and sectors. 7 members (3 females and 4 males) of Bac Giang team joined the tourney.

Players Nguyen Thanh Thao and Phung Bao Quyen (podium No.2) of Bac Giang team are awarded silver medals.

The players competed in 4 categories of standard chess, rapid chess, blitz chess and traditional chess.

Competing with strong rivals from Ho Chi Minh city and the provinces of Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc and Quang Ninh, Bac Giang players won one silver and one bronze.

The silver medalists were Nguyen Thanh Thao and Phung Bao Quyen at women’s team content while the bronze medals were awarded to Pham Xuan Quang and Tran Tra My at mixed double’s event.

The championships helped evaluate the players’ professional and select outstanding faces for National Sports Festival to be held in December 2022 in Quang Ninh province.
