About 14,000 runners to join Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon 2022

Around 14,000 runners from 64 countries around the world will take part in the Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon 2022, which will be held from December 9 to 12.

This race’s route across Ho Chi Minh City passes 17 tourist sites and historic landmarks, including the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, Nha Rong Wharf, and Thu Thiem 2 Bridge.

Runners will have four distances to choose from, including 42.195km, 21.1km, 10km, and 5km, on December 11. In addition to the four race categories, there will also be a kids run with 3km and 1.5km options on December 10.

The event is jointly held by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, Department of Culture and Sports, the city’s Athletics Federation, Sunrise Events Vietnam Company and the Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank).

Speaking at the press conference held on November 10 to introduce the event, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Department Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa said that the race aims to encourage an active lifestyle and the practice of sports for the best health while also promoting the beauty and dynamism of Ho Chi Minh City.

She revealed that to welcome athletes to the event, Ho Chi Minh City will host a series of activities, including a tourism week, an international music festival, and a hot air balloon festival, among others.
