Bac Giang province honors and rewards star runner Nguyen Thi Oanh

(BGO) - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Bac Giang provincial Party Committee (PPC), Head of the Provincial National Assembly Duong Van Thai on May 11 led a delegation to visit and congratulate family of athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh in Nhuan village, My Ha commune (Lang Giang district).  

The star runner has proved excellent performance at the ongoing 32nd Southeastern Asian Games (SEA Games 32) with three gold medals in track and field game. Particularly, despite facing an arduous challenge due to schedule change, Nguyen Thi Oanh did a miracle run to win goal medals in the 1,500 m run and 3,000 m steeplechase in just 30 minutes on May 9.

Visiting her family, the PPC Secretary Duong Van Thai praised her miracle achievement at the regional sport event to bring glory to the nation and homeland Bac Giang. It is also the honor and pride for the family. Oanh’s achievement is a bright model among the youth for the aspiration over challenge and difficulties to be the pride of hometown and country.

The provincial leader asked after her family members and encouraged them to be firm support with strong belief for Oanh on her upcoming path, especially to cheer her up toward higher result at the next competition of 10,000-meter run in the afternoon of May 12.

To honor her great effort and achievement, PPC Secretary Duong Van Thai handed over a reward of 70 million VND (over 2,900 USD) from the provincial Fund for Emulation and Reward, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son presented Certificate of Merit bestowed by Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee to Nguyen Thi Oanh via her family.

Also, representative of the investor consortium of Ever Green Bac Giang social housing project gifted Oanh a house worth 700 million VND. Fuji Bac Giang Development Joint Stock Company sponsored expense to revamp the house and improve the living condition for her family.

Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh takes Asian Indoor Championship title

(BGO) - Bac Giang born athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh made a triumphant statement by securing a gold medal in the women's 1,500-metre event at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2023 in Astana City, Kazakhstan, on February 11.

2 Bac Giang athletes bag medals at SEA Games 32

(BGO)- On May 7 morning, athlete Pham Tien San (born in Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province) competed at duathlon event (combining running and cycling) in the 32nd SEA Games. He successfully defended the gold medal.
