At the meeting, a representative of the Luc Nam People’s Committee delivered a brief report on the one-year implementation of the resolution and the plan. Accordingly, the district Party Committee’s Standing Board promulgated a plan of action and set up a steering board for tourism development in the 2016-2020 period, with a vision to 2030. Luc Nam has also paid attention to the communications and popularisation work, investment and attracting resources to build key tourism areas.
In the first half of 2017, Luc Nam welcomed more than 100,000 tourists and earned over 1.3 billion VND (57,200 USD) from fees, respective rises of 34 percent and 43 percent year on year. A number of tourism sites have been zoned off and constructed such as the eco-tourism area of Suoi Nua Lake in Dong Hung commune and Than Nong (Agricultural God) Temple in Cam Ly commune.
A project worth over 40 billion VND (1.76 million USD) on building the Suoi Mo eco-tourism area was registered, while the district conducted a survey to prepare for the construction of Hang
However, the mapping out of tourism development plans in Luc Nam remains sluggish. Local infrastructure is not synchronous while tourism products and services are still poor because the district has failed to attract potential tourism investors.
Concluding the examination session, Duong stressed that Luc Nam is full of tourism potentials and a key district for tourism development in Bac Giang. The district’s steering board for tourism development needs to increase communications to raise awareness among officials and people of the work. It is necessary to step up activities to promote tourism, call for investment and develop tourist sites such as the Suoi Mo eco-tourism area and Than Nong Temple to turn them into tourist magnets.
The provincial leader also asked Luc Nam to provide further training for tour guides and connect tours inside and outside Bac Giang to optimize tourism products and advantages of each locality.
