Tapping eco-spiritual tourism advantages in Nham Bien range

(BGO) - With historical factors and favorable natural conditions, the Nham Bien mountain range is considered a place with great potential to develop eco-resort tourism and many other forms. That potential is gradually being awakened by Yen Dung district of Bac Giang province.

The mountain range runs east-west. It borders Bac Ninh province to the south, Hai Duong province to the east, Luc Nam district to the north, and Bac Giang city to the west. The highest peak of the Nham Bien mountain range is Non Vua. The Nham Bien range has 99 peaks, each with its own name containing historical legends such as Non Vua, Ong Lao, Peng Kieu, Cot Co, Ham Long and Mam Xoi...

Endowed by nature, the Nham Bien range houses countless places that can become attractive destinations for tourists. Prominent among those is Hang Dau cave, located on the side of Phuong (Phoenix) mountain. Non Vua peak attracts a large number of people to conquer…

Nguyen Huu Hung, Standing Vice Chairman of the district People's Committee, said: "Being aware of these advantages, throughout the two previous terms and this 2020-2025 term, Yen Dung has identified tourism development as one of the key tasks of the local Party Committee, authorities and people. A series of large projects have been built to realize the goals set by the district Party Committee”.

In Tien Phong commune, Yen Dung district's service golf course spans 190 hectares, with a total investment of more than 1.6 trillion VND (70.7 million USD). It was put into operation in 2017. In Nham Bien township, many items of the Truc Lam Phuong Hoang Zen Monastery have been completed. Also in this area, the Lac Phu residential area has been formed.

The Tuan Quynh Construction, Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company (Hanoi), the investor of this residential area, is gradually implementing the 36-hectare Hang Dau cave ecological area project at the foot of the monastery. Meanwhile, Thien Lai Pagoda, formed in the 13th century and belonging to the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen sect, is located at the foot of Nham Bien mountain, where two ancient towers are preserved. It is also being built at a cost of about 90 billion VND (3.98 million USD) from social sources…

In order to create a highlight and connect relics sites and landscapes, the district recently invested nearly 10 billion VND (442,000 USD) in building a 1.4km road connecting the Lac Phu residential area with Kem Pagoda. In addition, it has mobilized resources to repair and embellish the Three Refuges Hall and the back hall of Kem Pagoda at a cost of nearly 750 million VND (32,950 USD); and called for more than 2 billion VND (87,880 USD) from social sources for the construction of Thanh Nhan Temple.

Recently, the provincial People's Committee approved the task of making a planning scheme on the Nham Bien range on an area of about 606 hectares, including a subdivision for developing leisure, eco-sport and entertainment tourism combined with trade and services...

The Resolution of the district Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term determined that Yen Dung has many advantages for tourism development, especially cultural - spiritual, eco - resort, entertainment – sports tourism. In order to promote tourism development, in the coming time, the district will focus on completing the planning of the resort, entertainment and sports tourism subdivision on the Nham Bien mountain range, as well as the planning of a subdivision for developing spiritual tourism, with Vinh Nghiem pagoda as a highlight.

The district will study investment in building and upgrading routes connecting relic sites, landscapes and entertainment areas in order to create linkages and form entertainment - resort tours and routes such as: Vinh Nghiem Pagoda - Zen Monastery - Kem Pagoda, with Hang Dau cave and Non Vua peak in between. It strives to turn Yen Dung into one of the tourism hubs of the province, making an important contribution to the realisation of the district’s goal toward modern industry, services and tourism.
