Bac Giang urges collaboration to develop tourism in Am Vai pagoda

(BGO) – A symposium themed “Am Vai pagoda tourism – Potential and solution for development” was co-hosted on September 21 in Am Vai pagoda (Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province) by Institute of Ethnology (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences), Department of Science and Technology, Vingroup Innovation Foundation.

Am Vai pagoda is an ancient pagoda in the Ly – Tran dynasty which is located within the relic sites on Dong Trieu arch.

Regarding the solution to develop tourism in Am Vai pagoda, Tran Van Lang, former Director of Bac Giang provincial Museum also member of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association suggested to identify local natural resources, especially forest planting and protection, so as to protect the landscape. Besides, due attention should be paid to revamping the traffic condition and opening route up the mountain while linking the tour to cultural and spiritual tourism sites in the West of Yen Tu Mountain.

Vice Director of the Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Phuc Thuong affirmed that Bac Giang has many cultural relics and heritage with huge potential for tourism development so the province issued professional resolution about tourism development by mobilizing various sources to tap utmost the available potentials.

Am Vai pagoda has been popular as an attractive destination with rich value of Buddhism in the spiritual cultural system of Tay Yen Tu region. In the upcoming time, the Department of Science and Technology will consult solution to promote the relic value in association with tourism development.

Concluding the event, Pro.Dr. Pham Van Duc, Chairman of Vietnam Philosophy Association pressed on precious opinions from many participating scientists, managers and experts to conserve Buddhism cultural heritage in the country which helped clarify the historical and cultural value as well as potential for tourism development in Am Vai pagoda in the spiritual journey to the Western and the Eastern of Yen Tu in Bac Giang province.

He said the exploitation and promotion of relic potentials in connection with tourism development in this period must rely on sustainable linkage of the pagoda (who determines and takes lead in the ideas of value conservation and promotion), manager (who regularly pays attention to invest sources), scientists (who have deep research to exploit cultural and spiritual values) and investors (who accompany and support to tap the potentials).

Thus, he urged the party and authority in Bac Giang province to further pay attention to supplementing the master plan including both short and long term in preserving and promoting the historical, humane, natural and cultural values of the relic in close connection to sustainable tourism development.
