(BGO) – Sloonghao singing festival and Spring market in highland of Luc Ngan district (Sloonghao festival) was among the events held in Bac Giang Culture – Tourism Week 2023. It took place from February 1 – 4 in Tan Son and Phong Van communes. Thanks to thorough preparation and warm response from local ethnic minority groups, it has echoed as the premise for the district to organize this year Culture and Sport Festival of Ethnic Minonority Groups in Luc Ngan district and develop local tourism.
Preserving the beauty of traditional culture
For years, Luc Ngan district has organized Sloonghao singing festival to preserve, revive and widely promote the beauty of the traditional culture identities from many ethnic groups in the highland of Luc Ngan district. Also, the district targets to build typical tourism products with close connection to potential culture – tourism space in the province.

This year event was held in wider scale with more cultural, sport and tourism activities as well as diverse folk culture practices.
As long tradition, the Tay and Nung ethnic people in Luc Ngan and other localities annually gather at Thac Luoi market or Tan Son market nowaday on lunar January 11 – 12 and Phong Van market on lunar January 13 – 15.
The highland market sessions become traditional dating places for local people and guest from Lang Son province to perform folk melodies, Sloonghao singing, Sli singing and Luon singing among others as the way to exchange the emotion and enjoy new spring.
This year, Luc Ngan district held district level festival in response of Tay Yen Tu Spring festival and Bac Giang Culture – Tourism Week in 2023. It featured both traditional culture and new attractive contents such as creating “checkin” points, opening the festival in ancient Bac Hoa village, launching cuisine contest, signing tour, Tan Son love market….

So, it attracted numerous people and visitors, greatly contributing to luring over 80,000 tourist arrivals to Luc Ngan district within Culture – Tourism Week 2023. The Sloonghao singing contest left deep imprint on the festival goers.
Making difference
Organizing the festival gave Luc Ngan district experience for next events, hence working out focal task in the coming time to preserve cultural heritage and develop local tourism. Firstly, the district carefully prepared and well organized the 21th Culture – Sport Festival of Ethnic Groups in Luc Ngan district in 2023 from March 7-9, 2023.
Together with facilities, local authority accelerated the communication and promotion about the event. Apart from traditional activities of culture camping site, cuisine contest, traditional costume show, sport competition and folf games…,this year Culture – Sport Festival featured new contents like the first marathon to conquer sacred mountain Am Vai, hiking and tasting local dishes, special artshow.

The cooperatives and travel agents built attractive tours to enjoy the flowers of lychee, pomelo and orange, harvest honey…to introduce about the land, people and culture in Luc Ngan district.
The district People’s Committee directed competent agencies to consult tourism programme in specific seasons and guided cooperatives to create completed tourism product and attractive tour. Also, the district highly focused on promoting Luc Ngan tourism with the motto: “Luc Ngan, four season destination”; “Culture experience, natural discovery”; “Luc Ngan tourism, experiment and experience”.
More training courses have been done to instruct the cooperative to join hand with folk singing club and art troops to welcome and serve visitors so as to make Luc Ngan tourism different.
