Bac Giang develops “green” tourism

(BGO) – Located at the transition land between the Northeast and Red River Delta provinces with many natural landscapes, vast primitive forest, diverse flora and fauna systems, Bac Giang province has sufficient condition to develop ecological and community tourism.   

Currently, the province has focused on developing “green” tourism with various activities to explore and experience the local culture, protect the environment that helps bring additional income to the local people.

Diverse potential of ecotourism development

About 50km away from Bac Giang city in the Northeast, Khuon Than lake in Kien Lao commune, Luc Ngan district covers 240ha among the vast forests of pine, acacia and melaleuca cajuputi. There are 5 small islands in the middle of the lake just like the floating upside down bowls on the transparent blue water, creating an unique view for the lake.

The beauty of Khuon Than lake (Luc Ngan district).

Visiting Khuon Than lake, the visitors can enjoy the boat tour to discover the fruit orchards, taste the local specialties and emerge in the Soong Hao and Sli melodies of the Nung or “Luon” singing of Tay’s ethnic people.

Khe Ro primitive forest in Tay Yen Tu Nature Reserve in An Lac commune (Son Dong district) covers 7,100 ha and houses many rare animals and plants including 43 species listed in Vietnam’s Red Data Book. At the destination, the visitors will be able to live among the untouched nature in Vung Tron lake, Nuoc Vang (Yellow water) spring, ancient old ironwood forest as well as study about the unique culture of the local ethnic minority groups.

If Dong Cao hamlet in Thach Son commune (Son Dong district) is called Sapa and Tam Dao towns because of its cool air all the year round, Cam Son lake (Luc Ngan district) is famous as “Ha Long Bay on the mountain”. The lake of 2,600 ha is surrounded by magnificent mountain ranges, creating a charming landscape. The destination offers visitors with several specialties such as forest bamboo shoot, Kien Thanh wine, hill chicken...

Exploiting local values

Thanks to the favourable natural condition, the development of ecotourism in close connection with community based tourism is a big advantage of the province.

Permanent Vice Chairman of Vietnam Travel Association, Director of Hanoitourist Phung Quang Thang said: “Previously, Bac Giang was unnamed in Vietnam tourism map but the province has created unique products basing on the available conditions. Now, the province has become the Northern orchard for the tourism product of Bac Giang, sweet fruit season which draw numerous tourists to enjoy the local fruit orchards of lychee, pomelo, orange, guava...It is a good way to tap the potentials and advantages to create signature products”.

Bac Giang is popular destination to several Hanoi tourists to enjoy community tourism in Ven village, Xuan Luong commune (Yen The district). It attracts a lot of visitors for the cool climate, beauty natural landscape, amazing experiment activities such as tea picking and drying, hiking, discovering primitive forest, enjoying unique dishes of Cao Lan ethnic people...

To boost up the ecotourism in close connection with community base tourism and exploit the utmost value of the local area, Director of Bac Giang Tourism Promotion and Information Center Luu Xuan San shared that the Center is promoting the destinations and developing community tourism at Xuan Luong commune (Yen The district), An Lac commune (Son Dong district) and Thanh Hai commune (Luc Ngan district).

In the upcoming time, the Center will propose to conduct the scientific research task with the topic “Researching the actual situation, suggesting solution to exploit new rural infrastructure and One Commune One Product (OCOP) to develop farming and rural tourism in Bac Giang province” including the task to build model to welcome visitors to enjoy experimental tourism at lychee and fruit orchards in Luc Ngan district.

Besides, the Center also supports the businesses and cooperatives in the province to develop the tourism products such as Van village wine, Kim Ngan vinegar, honey, Chu rice noodle, Ke rice build collective brands, develop the product and bring more income to the community. It is the method to develop sustainable “green” tourism in Bac Giang province.
