(BGO) - Following the lyric "Coming to Luc River and Huyen Mountain" by musician Do Hong Quan, we came to Luc Nam district (Bac Giang province). Nature endows the land on the western side of Yen Tu Mountain Range with many beautiful landscapes. Sparkling streams, falling waterfalls, green forests, deep mountains, and ancient temples are attractive to tourists, making them forget the way back.
Magical streams, waterfalls of Huyen Mountain
For those who love traveling in Bac Giang, when it comes to the land of Luc River, Huyen Mountain (ie Luc Nam River, Huyen Dinh Mountain), they will immediately think of Suoi Mo (Mo Stream). Currently, from Bac Giang city, visitors can easily move along National Highway 31 or Provincial Highway 293 - a spiritual road to Luc Nam.

Mo Stream - a famous eco-spiritual tourist attraction in Luc Nam. |
After a distance of about 30 km, we arrived in Nghia Phuong commune. From a distance, Mo Stream curves like a white silk strip that adorns the beauty of the picture of Huyen Dinh green forest and deep mountain.
Along the refreshing and cool promenade road, tourists can also visit sacred temples, including Trung (Middle) Temple, Thuong (Upper) Temple, Ha (Lower) Temple, Tran Temple, and Quan Temple. Especially we were impressed when discovering the giant orchid tree in the back yard of Ha Temple. In the flower season, guests standing a few tens of meters away can also smell the scent of this "ancient" orchid that is over 200 years old.
With emotions rising high, we decided to cross the forest to the top of Huyen Dinh Mountain and Thum Thum Waterfall. From the foot of the mountain, tourists need to cross a steep mountain pass with many sleeve bends to reach the peak.
After a distance of 7-8 km, we stopped at a point 1 km from the foot of the waterfall. From here, a journey to discover the jungle started. After more than 20 minutes of walking, the sound of the waterfall became louder and louder.
From a distance, the waterfall has four challenging layers. From the top of Huyen Dinh Mountain, all year round the water flows down through the rugged cliffs. The strips of white water are mesmerizingly beautiful as they are created by mountain and forest.
Conquering Phat Son Peak
The next day we decided to go to Luc Son commune, located on the western side of Yen Tu Mountain Range. A Tay ethnic man named Than Van Doanh volunteered to be a guide.

The people of Luc Son commune put stones to build a bridge over the Golden Water Stream. |
Leading the way, Doanh told a story. From ancient times, people knew the Nuoc Vang (Golden Water) Stream and considered it a precious source of water. The spring water that has a yellow color like the honey from western Yen Tu forest here is wonderful. People often go to the stream to get water to drink. Cao Lan women also bring spring water to boil with herbal leaves to bathe new-born babies to wish for their health and wisdom...
Going along the stream, the group gradually lost themselves in the core zone of the jungle. Near noon, they reached Giot Waterfall (or Khe Giot called by indigenous people) located in the middle of Phat Son Mountain. Giot Waterfall is considered the upstream of the Golden Water Stream. From the top of the mountain, the waterfall rushes down, over the mossy cliffs with green grass.
In the front, the majestic Phat Son Peak is appealing. Crossing the last groves, we burst into joy when seeing a vast lawn. At an altitude of nearly 900 meters above sea level, the wild steppe appears enchanting. Scattered across the green grass are big and small gray rocks in all kinds of strange and fancy shapes.
Indigenous people on the two sides of Phat Son Mountain in Bac Giang and Quang Ninh provinces from ancient times imagined the story of the descending gods. The fairies walked on the mountain peak playing chess and talking. Since then, the name of the San Troi (Heaven Yard) was given by them to the rock field. And the small rocks scattered were chess pieces for the fairies to play.
From the top of the mountain, if having time, visitors can go down the mountain to the Eastern slope to reach Ho Thien Pagoda and Ngoa Van Temple... on Dong Trieu land (Quang Ninh). If the tourism sectors of Bac Giang and Quang Ninh coordinate to tap this place methodically, it will become a very attractive and interesting route for mountain climbing, experience, and Buddha worshipping.
