(BGO) – Luc Ngan district (Bac Giang province) has actively implemented various solutions to quickly introduce experimental tourism in orange and pomelo season to promote and effectively exploit the potential and advantages of ecological and experimental tourism at fruit growing area together with unique cultural identities and fruit consumption.
The land of rich potentials
Since early season, Luc Ngan has sold over 1,000 tonnes of orange and pomelo of all types at the same price as 2020 crop. The traders come in person to buy the fruits to bring to other provinces.

This year, the district will not organize fruit fair like previous seasons but focus on instructing the communes to intensively cultivate the crops in line with organic trend that is friendly to the environment to lure visitors, build a new “channel” to promote the local citrus fruits and landscapes amid the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic.
Currently, many visitors have explored Luc Ngan at weekend, especially Cam Son lake. Giap Van Nam, Director of An Phu Tourism Service and Trading Cooperative in Cho street, Tan Son commune (Luc Ngan district) shared that since the social distancing order was ended at late July 2021, the Cooperative has welcomed 20 delegations to visit the lake area.
Besides, several orchards and cooperatives in the district have prepared the facilities to welcome tourists, harvest orange and pomelo.
Luc Ngan has nearly 350 relic sites and landscapes, including one national historical relic (Ha temple in Hong Giang commune); 42 provincial historical relics; over 300 unrecognized relics and landscapes scattered at communes and towns which are attractive destinations for unique traditional cultural identities of ethnic people.
Exploiting tourism in connection to sweet fruit area
To tap the tourism potential in close connection to development of sustainable fruit cultivation area, the local authority issued Plan and Project to boost the investment attraction to local tourism development in the period 2021 – 2025 with the vision to 2030 that costs nearly 200 billion VND (8.7 million USD).
Particularly, it focuses on building and developing eco-community based tourism spaces in key fruit growing area; eco-resort-leisure tourism in Khuon Than and Cam Son lakes; spiritual cultural tourism (Ha temple relic, Am Vai pagoda and adjacent communal houses and other pagodas) while linking the tourism spaces to neighbouring districts, provinces and cities.
The district sets the target to welcome 1.5 million tourist arrivals per year with total revenue from tourism and tourism service of 210 billion VND and create jobs to 700 – 1,000 labours.
According to Nguyen Thi Nam, Head of the district Cultural Division, to implement the plan and project, the district established 15 new cooperatives which are relating to tourism then supported them to operate stably this year. The district People’s Committee prepared the Plan to organize experimental tourism in orange and pomelo season in 2021.
On October 22 – 23, more than 80 representatives of 15 above mentioned cooperatives were provided a training course on community base tourism.
At the same time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued plan to survey, hold talk show about linkage to introduce the tourism sites, complexes and fruit growing areas in Luc Ngan district in 2021 which is expected to last three days in early November. The event will invite expert in tourism field and many travel agencies.
The district Divisions of Culture, Agriculture and Rural Development have joined hands to search for 12 good orange and pomelo orchards which met several conditions of large area with productivity of at least 15 tonnes of fruit per season, cultivation under VietGAP or GlobalGAP; smooth travel to ease visitor...
In the upcoming time, hoping that the local authorities and competent agencies should timely assist the cooperative and households offering community based tourism service to complete tour quickly so that Luc Ngan can tap the tourism potentials and build sustainable fruit cultivation area.
