(BGO) – Recently, farmers in Hop Duc commune, Tan Yen district (Bac Giang province) has harvested star apple fruits. With stable selling price of 30,000 VND (1.28 USD) per kg, the growers can earn over 300 million VND per hectare.
Many customers visited the star apple fruit garden of Nguyen Van Cuong in Cua Son village of Hop Duc Commune in the morning of May 9, 2023 to buy the fruit.

Cuong shared: “Thanks to favour weather with less rain this year, the fruit has higher quality, sweeter taste and better appearance. The harvest season started from April 20 and peaked on Reunification holiday but all products were sold out soon”.
With one hectare of star apple fruit, his family expects to harvest about 12 tonnes of fruits this year. Because he grows the fruit in line with VietGAP standard and the product was rated four star title under One Commune One Product programme, all first class fruits are ordered by customers as the gift and introduced at supermarket with stable price. The second class products are sold directly at the garden to supply to retail markets.
“Now my family harvests half of total quantity, 50 percent of which are first class fruit. With selling price of 30,000 – 35,000 VND per kg, even sometimes 40,000 VND for the first class and over 20,000 VND per kg for the second class fruit, this year I expect to earn 360 million VND,” Cuong said.

Hop Duc commune has 30 hectares of star apple fruit, mostly in the villages of Cua Song, Lo Noi, Hoa Minh and Luc Lieu, 25 of which can be harvested. All localities plan to harvest more than 300 tonnes of fruits and earn nearly 10 billion VND.
As schedule, the star apple fruits can be harvested till early June when it starts lychee harvest season.
Chairman of Hop Duc communal People’s Committee Tran Van Hoi said: “Comparing to other crops, star apple fruit brings higher income. To increase the value, the locality plans to develop and expand the cultivation area in line with VietGAP standard”.
