Five middle school students from Hanoi have won a filmmaking competition organized by the British Council by beating over 750 teams from around the world.
Le Kim Anh, headmistress of the Cau Giay Secondary School, said Tuesday that ninth grader Pham Duc Minh and eighth graders Nguyen Nhu Mai, Nguyen Quang Anh, Do Tran Thao Vy, and Tong Nguyen Phuong Anh have won the "Your World" international video competition for students aged 14-17 from British Council Partner Schools, which is a community of over 2,000 schools delivering U.K. international qualifications.

This year's theme was "Good health and Well-being," which required participants to make a short film, either live action or animated, on it.
The Hanoi team’s short film "Menthy Club" is about a club created to provide mental healthcare for students through a story about a girl who suffers from academic pressures.
The team said that through the film it wanted people to understand that while mental issues might be a sensitive subject, education and awareness are the key to reducing discrimination and promoting support and understanding.
Steve Adams, director of examinations in the Southeast Asia region for the British Council, said it was the first time that contestants from East Asia won the top prize in the competition.
The contest was instituted in 2017, and this was the third year Vietnamese students took part in it.
Cau Giay Secondary School, Chu Van An Secondary School, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Ta Quang Buu Secondary School, and Trung Vuong Secondary School had entered teams.
