Provincial official pays pre-Tet visits to Indian Embassy and Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee

(BGO) - On the afternoon of January 25, in Hanoi, Standing Vice Chairman of Bac Giang provincial People's Committee Mai Son and representatives of the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs paid a pre-Tet visit to the Indian Embassy.

During the visit, Son informed Indian Ambassador Pranay Verna of the province’s outstanding results in socio-economic development and investment attraction. He and the ambassador also reviewed the fine diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The provincial official stated that Bac Giang has advantages in raising chickens and growing citrus trees and lychee. He said these are products that can be exported to India, and hoped the ambassador would pay attention to the issue. Son also proposed the embassy coordinate to promote trade for the province's strong agricultural products and introduce Indian investors to explore Bac Giang, focusing on the fields of information technology (IT) and production of herbal medicine, vaccines and medical equipment.

The province hopes that the ambassador will be a bridge for corporations and businesses to invest in Bac Giang, while advocating the provision of training and human resources and the granting of scholarships for provincial officials to join training courses in the fields of agriculture, IT, health and English proficiency improvement.

The Indian Ambassador congratulated Bac Giang on its the achievements obtained in recent years. Highly agreeing with Bac Giang's proposals, Pranay Verna suggested Bac Giang and the Indian Embassy coordinate more closely and specifically. The two sides should exchange information regularly to implement the above contents. The ambassador raised the idea of forming a cultural space in Bac Giang province, showing the good traditional cooperation relationship.

On the morning of January 25, Son visited and extended Tet wishes to religious dignitaries of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS).

Son and the Bac Giang delegation paid a pre-Tet visit to Most Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the VBS Central Committee and head of the Vietnam Buddhist Academy, and Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice President and General Secretary of the Executive Council of the VBS Central Committee.

Son hoped that in the coming time, with their prestige, the dignitaries will continue to encourage Buddhist monks, nuns and followers to join hands with the Party committees and authorities at all levels in Bac Giang province in responding to the patriotic emulation movements, building and firmly consolidating the great national unity bloc.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the official presented flowers and gifts and extended Tet wishes to the VBS Central Committee, monks, nuns and Buddhists.

Expressing thanks for the attention of the provincial leaders, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet and Venerable Thich Duc Thien affirmed that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will continue to work together with the Party committees and authorities at all levels in Bac Giang province to well perform socio-economic development tasks.
