(BGO) – The Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation (VBD) in Bac Giang province (Steering Committee) has joined hands with the Steering Board for VBD in Yen The district to launch “Summer red blood” and “Humanitarian Month 2023” campaigns.
The event was attended by Bui Thi Hoa, President of Vietnam Red Cross Society, Vice Head of the National Steering Committee for VBD; Le Thi Thu Hong, Permanent Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council; Mai Son, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Head of the provincial VBD Steering Committee.

Since establishment, the Steering Committee has implemented various movements and attracted numerous participants. Annually, the province has more than 15,000 blood donors with VBD result exceeding the target assigned by the Center.
“Summer red blood” and “Red Journey” program in 2023 takes place from May 1 till August 31 (the peak period from June 1 till July 7), targeting to appeal and receive 5,600 safe blood units.
To realize the target, Vice Chairman Mai Son called on all officials, party members, youth members and people to actively participate in the campaign and donate blood to save others.
For over 5 years, the provincial Red Cross Society has launched “Humanitarian month” with prominent result and total donation of over 54 billion VND (2.3 million USD), helping over 45,000 turns of needy cases.
2023 Humanitarian month was simultaneously launched in association with the movement “Good people, charity task – join hands to build humanitarian community” under the theme of “Joining hands to build humanitarian community deeply from our heart” across the localities in the province.
All chapters strive to appeal donation of at least 15 billion VND to support 10,000 humanitarian addresses. Each association in the district and city will have at least one sustainable humanitarian project and activity with direct donation from local party, authority and people.

Responding the appeal at the launching ceremony, representatives from organizations, businesses and agencies registered to donate over 12 billion VND to the “Humanitarian month”.
On this occasion, the provincial Red Cross Society additionally presented first-aid tools to the first aid stations and groups of first aid motorbike taxis in 10 districts and city as well as monthly support to 10 difficult families in Yen The district (1 million VND/household).
Besides, the provincial Red Cross Society gifted 15 bicycles to impoverished students with good academic result; cooperated with Nutifood Food Joint Stock Company to give more than 400 boxes of powdered milk, more than 1,000 boxes of fresh milk, worth nearly 200 million VND to children at Tam Hiep commune Kindergarten and Tan Hiep commune Kindergarten in the same district.
