Village and commune roads are expanded

BAC GIANG - Implementing Resolution No. 113-NQ/TU dated July 22, 2016 of the Provincial Party Committee on developing the transport infrastructure in 2016-2020 period and orientation to 2030 (Resolution 113 ), so far, the system of village and commune roads in Bac Giang province has basically been upgraded and expanded, thereby, facilitating commuters and circulation of goods, promoting socio-economic development.

Resolution No. 113 sets the goal that by 2030, the whole province will develop a relatively complete and modern traffic structure system with at least 80 percent of village and commune roads concreted. To fulfil this target, the localities in the province have taken great efforts and determination in execution.

The road in An Lap village, Ngoc Ly commune (Tan Yen) is concreted and expanded.

Tan Yen district is a bright spot in concreting the rural roads. Nguyen Duc Hung, Head of the Economic and Infrastructure Division of Tan Yen district, said: "The locality has a total length of commune roads of nearly 190 km. To date, local communes and towns have concreted all road surfaces including 948 out of 960 km of village roads (more than 98.7 percent). In Lang Giang district, the movement to concrete the village and commune roads is also popularly implemented. The entire district currently has 21 communes and towns with more than 1,117 out of 1,215 km of village roads concreted, reaching 92 percent together with 242 km of commune roads reaching 100 percent”.

Similarly, the districts of Yen Dung, Viet Yen, Hiep Hoa had more than 90 percent of village roads concreated while all commune roads are concreted.

According to data reviewed by the Department of Transport, to date, Bac Giang province has concreted more than 1,695 out of 1,724 km of communal roads, reaching more than 98.3 percent and over 7,664 out of 8,238 km of rural roads, reaching more than 93 percent and exceeding the target set at Resolution for 2030 by 13-18.3 percent.

Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Transport Do Thi Lan said that considering the key role of transportation in promoting local socio-economic development, recently the Department has highly focused on implementing Resolution 113 and the Plan of the Provincial People's Committee on developing the transport infrastructure system during 2016 - 2020 period and orientation to 2030. Along with expanding and upgrading the provincial roads, the Department actively coordinates with localities to promote the movement to concrete the rural roads.

To increase the rate of concreting the rural roads, in addition to the provincial’s full support for cement purchasing, the districts and cities also actively allocate budgets to invest in road hardening.

Thanks to the efforts of the Party Committee, authorities at all levels and the cooperation of the people, the road system of communes and villages in many districts has now basically been upgraded, expanded and spacious, helping facilitate the socio-economic development.
