SEA Games 31 Champion Nguyen Thi Oanh nominated for Labour Medal

(BGO) - Bac Giang born player Nguyen Thi Oanh, Nguyen Huy Hoang, Tran Hung Nguyen and Nguyen Thi Huong are four athletes nominated for Labour Medal by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) for special achievement at SEA Games 31.

Four athletes are nominated for second grade Labour Medal. Nguyen Thi Oanh and Nguyen Huy Hoang were selected as two out of four best athletes at SEA Games 31.

Nguyen Thi Oanh solely conquers the finish line on May 14.

Track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh (1995) won three gold medals at 1500m, 5000m and 3000m steeplechase and broke SEA Games record at the last one.

1,341 members of Vietnam delegation attended the Games, including 951 athletes who bagged 446 medals at all kinds (205 gold, 125 silver and 116 bronze medals) and broke SEA Games records at 17 out of 30 sports.

Basing on the excellent achievement of sports teams, the MoCST submitted the nomination list for President’s second and third grade Labour Medal to the Central Reward and Emulation Committee.

Apart from four individuals who are nominated to receive second grade Labour Medal, the MoCST recommended to bestowed third class Labour Medal to 21 other organizations and individuals such as track and field tram (winning 22 gold medals), wrestling team (bagging 17 gold medals), swimming team (pocketing 11 gold medals) among others.

Besides, 305 PM’s Certificate of Merit and 388 MoCST’s Certificate of Merit will be granted to excellent organizations and individuals.

As schedule, a ceremony will be launched in early June to honor and reward outstanding achievements of Vietnam sports delegation at SEA Games 31.
